Where is Great Scotland?

If you were to stick a pin in the exact centre of Scotland, it would land in Highland Perthshire, the heart of Great Scotland.
Great Scotland lies in exact geographical centre of our country close to the banks of the River Tay, our longest and mightiest river that flows for over 120 miles from remote Highland mountains to the wide, sandy beaches of the North Sea.
Great Scotland begins in the heart of the Highlands where great lochs like Loch Tay, Loch Tummel and Loch Rannoch lie beneath mighty mountains such as Ben Lawers and Schiehallion, the fairy mountain. This is a wild land of golden eagles and red deer where walkers and climbers can cover vast miles of spectacular scenery and never see another soul all day.
It heads south along some of the finest salmon fishing waters in the world on whose banks lie spectacular country estates and picturesque villages. This is where Scotland began as Kenneth McAlpin merged the separate nations of the Picts and the Scots into one country in the 9th century. Here he established his first capital and was crowned King on the Stone of Scone.

It broadens out into the rich farmlands of Strathearn, Strathmore and Angus, the larders of Scotland that produce our finest foods and natural produce. This is one of Scotland's outdoor playgrounds whose hills, fields and rivers provide facilities for all types of activities from walking to adventure sports.
It reaches out to encompass the historic cities of Dundee, the City of Discovery; Perth, the Fair City; and St Andrews, the home of golf. Here you will history and modernity intertwined as ancient churches and historic buildings sit next to modern shops, lively bars and cafés and exciting entertainment venues.
Finally it reaches the North Sea on the east coast of Scotland. This is the sunny side of Scotland with the lowest rainfall and the longest sunshine hours. Here vast horizons stretch forever and big skies with translucent light seem full of infinite possibilities.
All of this lies only an hour or so from Edinburgh, Glasgow and Inverness. All our major international airports are within easy travelling distance and Scotland's new European ferry port is right on our doorstep. Iconic destinations such as Skye, Loch Ness and Loch Lomond can be easily visited on a day trip.
Great Scotland is as centrally located as you can get, but lies in an unspoiled area of great natural beauty with many protected sites of scenic interest.
No matter where you are, you're within easy reach of Great Scotland.
