Blair
Castle stands at the centre of a large estate with over 145,000 acres
(58,725 hectares) of hill land, farmland, forestry, housing, industrial
development and way-marked trails.
Sporting visitors to Atholl
Estates can enjoy excellent deer stalking as well as grouse shooting in
superbly scenic hill country. There is also salmon fishing on several
famous Perthshire rivers and trout fishing on remote Highland lochs.
There
is a choice of five Highland lodges to let for sporting parties and
holidaymakers, while Blair Castle Caravan Park provides holiday homes
and pitches for caravans and tents.
Visitors wishing to explore
the Estate can do so either on foot or bike along the 150 miles of
managed trails or by pony through the Trekking Centre (
www.blaircastletrekking.co.uk)located to the north of the Castle grounds.
The Estate offers a Ranger Service (
http://www.athollestatesrangerservice.co.uk)
which provides free information and advice. The Service operates a
Visitor Centre in Blair Atholl between April and October but staff are
available to assist through the full year.
