Our History

Welcome to Discovery Point home of RRS Discovery Captain Scott's famous Antarctic research ship.

Discovery Point is a purpose built visitor attraction which tells the story of the 'Heroes of the Ice' who at the turn of the 19th Century ventured into the unknown wilderness of Antarctica in search of scientific knowledge.  Little was known about this frozen continent and RRS Discovery is unique in that she was built specifically for exploration into the Antarctic.
 

Discovery Point tells the story of RRS Discovery from her construction in Dundee in 1900, on her numerous voyages around the world then returning to her home in Dundee where she remains the focal point of the 'City of Discovery '.
